Wix was introducing a Credits Wallet as part of Premium plans, enabling AI-powered features across Business Manager and Wixel. I led the end-to-end UX for the Credits Balance component and credit model, designing for transparency and consistent upgrade behavior across surfaces.
What I Did
- Designed a platformized credits balance component across:
- Business Manager (site level)
- Wixel (desktop & mobile)
- AI vertical pages
- Designed a two-tier credit model:
- Free account: a daily credit allotment
- Premium wallet tied to site plans
- Defined clear paywall, notifications and upgrade behavior when credits run out
- Partnered with Premium, AI verticals, and Legal on scope and monetization
- Defined a collaborator credits wallet (not shipped)
Impact
Credits consumption grew dramatically in the months following launch, reflecting the rapid adoption of AI features across Wix products.
Bottom line
Billing infrastructure is one of those surfaces where design is almost invisible when it works, and loudly broken when it doesn't. The challenge here wasn't making it beautiful; it was making it legible: a user should be able to understand their credit state at a glance and know exactly what to do next. Getting that right required as much work on the mental model as on the interface itself.
